I am a huge fan of Sardinia and love a multi-island holiday, so when recently looking into client requests for something different for 2024, this fantastic Mediterranean Tri-Island Grand Tour caught my eye.
There are specialist suppliers that I love to work with where quality, authenticity, innovation and service match the priorities I value for clients.
This suggested itinerary from the 'Just' group is hugely appealing and something I am keen to share. It's a wonderful opportunity to visit three equally beautiful and relatively unspoilt islands, with rugged mountains, stunning scenery and a selection of beautiful beaches - all on one holiday.
Experience Corsica, Sardinia & Sicily – The Tri-Island Grand Tour
The following is a popular tour that provides the chance to sample all three of these enchanting islands, but a trip can be tailor-made to suit personal requirements and an individual sense of adventure!
Cefalù, North Sicily
Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean and remains distinctive in both its history and culture.
Fly to Palermo on the north coast, staying five nights B&B at Alberi del Paradiso, close to the historic town of Cefalù with the beach just a short walk or shuttle ride away.
Cefalù is set against a backdrop of rugged cliffs and provides breathtaking coastal views. It is steeped in history, featuring a charming medieval old town with narrow cobblestone streets, historic buildings and a magnificent Norman cathedral, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Baia Sardinia, Northeast Sardinia
Sardinia is a stunning phenomenon of nature, with an endless stretch of beautiful coastline, dazzling beaches, a mountainous interior that is teeming with adventure, and with 300 days of rays per year, this is the sunniest unspoilt Mediterranean island.
Fly from Palermo to Olbia on the Costa Smeralda for five nights B&B at the 4-star Club Hotel Baia Sardinia situated on a spectacular beach, with wonderful sea views and choice of restaurants.
Baia Sardinia is renowned for its mesmerising natural beauty, soft golden sandy beaches, and calm azure waters, making it ideal for water sports enthusiasts and those keen to explore marine life.
Propriano, Southern Corsica
Corsica still feels to me like a bit of a hidden gem.
With almost 200 beaches and 1000km of coastline, it’s a beach-lover’s dream, ranging from intimate hidden coves to magnificent bays.
The French know the island as Corse and often refer to it as 'L'Ile de Beauté' (The Island of Beauty).
Travel to Santa Teresa port (50km) and take the ferry to Bonifacio in Corsica, recently featured on Celebrity Race Across the World.
Pick up a hire car and drive to the beautiful seaside resort of Propriano on the southwest coast for five nights B&B at Hotel Bartaccia, located in picturesque Mediterranean gardens with views across the Gulf of Valinco.
Many of the buildings in Propriano date from the early 19th century, when the port was established, and a stroll around the yacht harbour with its tall colourful houses is a must.
